I always feel like a small child in front of a huge pile of Christmas presents when I learn something truly amazing. David Eagleman manages to make it feel like Christmas morning by packing some of the coolest bits of information in his book Livewired.

David and his team research and experiment with everything from time perception to neurolaw. In Livewired he tackles the subject of sensory substitution and brain plasticity. He describes how the billions of neurons in the brain reconfigure themselves every moment of our lives.

David is one of the best science communicators active at the moment. He has a talent for simplifying highly technical ideas and processes so that people that are not familiar with the technical jargon can follow along. What is even more fun is that he is also at the forefront of the neuroscience, doing a lot of the research that fills his books and talks.

The book itself is easy to read and understand. More importantly, it makes you stop and think. It opens up an incredible new world for you and inspires you to learn more.
